Prepping Your Logic, Nuendo, Cubase, Digital Performer Session for Mixing

Sessions accepted on hard drive (firewire only) or DVD. FTP upload may be possible for smaller projects. Email me at Charles@wrdstudios.com for more info.

Save session file as: [song title – FOR MIX]

Rough mix the song and place in folder: [band name – date – rough mixes]

Make sure all necessary tracks are included

Please include only tracks you want mixed with the final song

Delete the ‘master fader’ and all aux tracks
-
Name all tracks clearly. Time needed to decipher tracks or re-label incorrect tracks will be billed.

Check all edits to ensure clean transitions. Make necessary adjustments to remove pops and clicks at edit points.

Remove ALL plugins

If there is a specific effect you would like to keep in the final mix, print that plugin to a new audio track. Please include before and after plugin tracks and label each clearly. Any questions, please email.

Remove ALL volume and mute automation

Remove unused regions from the session

Consolidate all tracks to start and end at the same point. Even if one track doesn’t enter until the last chorus, its file should start at the same point as the others. Any questions, contact me. See screenshots for clarification. THIS IS A VITAL STEP. I CANNOT REALIGN YOUR AUDIO IF IT DOES NOT COME CONSOLIDATED.

After consolidation, rename each region to match the track name.

Create a new folder: [band name – date – FOR MIX]

Export the consolidated tracks to the above folder as 24 bit WAV or AIFF, sample rate same as current.

Repeat these steps for each song

Send hard drive / Send DVD

Verify the DVD is readable after burning

Include rough mixes in a separate folder or on audio CD
-
Pack drives / DVDs well to protect against shipping damage

Include power supply and cables for hard drives
Include as many notes as you would like!
