A mix has the potential to make or break your song. A dud can be turned into a hit, and vice versa. Many consider the mixing stage to be the most important of the recording process. This is the last place an artist should skimp.
Mixing is the process of creatively balancing the riffs, tones, colors, and levels of each component of your song. A good mix will help convey a song’s message to the listener, leaving them energized and wanting to hear more. Engineer Charles Szczepanek has the ears and tools to make your songs hit the sweet spot of your audience. He has worked with recording artists nationally and internationally and knows how to turn even the dullest tracked songs into sparkling gems that mean something to the listener.
At
Winding Road Studios, Charles combines age old mixing standards with
new digital audio mixing techniques that generate unique approaches
to listening and mixing. These approaches open up
both fresh ideas, as well as never previously attainable
possibilities for modern music production. Running completely in Pro Tools, you, the
artist, can choose up to 48 tracks of some of the most famous
consoles ever built including those from SSL, API, and Neve.
Say you want to mix and match your consoles? Drums can be
processed on the clear and punchy SSL, while vocals can be warmed up
with the Neve. Never before has a studio been able to offer
multiple consoles on one song, one mix.
In addition to the outstanding choice of consoles, Charles’ plug-in list contains the best eq, compression, and effects available. These include plug-ins from such companies as Waves, Antares, and Audio Ease, as well as custom Pro Tools plug-ins from Steven Massey. Don’t pass up this opportunity to have your music crafted by some of the finest sound production technology tools ever created!
Delivery is preferred at the highest quality possible, up to 96 kHz/24 bit. Due to extremely large file sizes, delivery by hard drive or DVD is the most efficient. Files must be WAV or AIFF format and should be edited and time-aligned prior to delivery. See ‘Mix Prep’ documents on the left for more information.
During the course of the mixing process, Charles will be in communication with you, providing samples of the mix and opening dialogue to keep you involved in the creation of your music. We will provide one mix for you to sample before beginning your entire album. If you are not satisfied for any reason, you will not be charged for the mix.
